OUR HISTORY
Thank you for your interest in Marias Fresh Foods authentic Hispanic products.  

MARIAS Brand has been manufactured in San Diego for over 14 years.  Starting with one product, MARIAS Original Homestyle Salsa, always a big hit at neighborhood
block parties,
MARIAS developed distribution with Henry’s Marketplace giving the Company a broad retail presence throughout San Diego County.  Though MARIAS
Brand continued to sell well with growing popularity, the company hit rough financial times in mid 2000, at which time Dennis and Ileana Koupal purchased MARIAS.

Armed with little manufacturing experience yet a strong belief in the uniqueness and quality of the product line’s true Hispanic taste profile, Dennis and Ileana have
directed the company’s sales growth in excess of 100% per year since 2000.  

Obviously, many decision makers in the food industry share our enthusiasm!

We currently manufacture and distribute 12 flavors of Fresh Salsas, 4 Flame Roasted Salsas 4 killer Pico de Gallos (diced, marinated veggies or fruits), Gourmet Spicy
Carrots and a mild and spicy fresh Guacamole to many of southern California’s best-known restaurants, resorts and institutes of higher education through the Food
Service channel of Sysco of San Diego.   DPI-Dairy Fresh and Monterrey Provisions Company do an excellent job distributing our products to over 50 retail locations in
San Diego, Orange and Riverside Counties.
We are pleased to have developed a direct relationship with Costco Wholesale and their key Deli Personnel.

Our big hit
Mango Pico de Gallo can be found at over 50 Costco locations throughout Northern California.  You can find our Shrimp Ceviche at Costco throughout the
West and Southwest.

We make the Sun harvest Brand All Natural Salsa  and Guacamole for Henry's Farmers Market throughout Southern California.

MARIAS has remained steadfast in our commitment to produce the highest quality, fresh Hispanic foods.  Most of our competitors have resorted to adding tomato
pastes, purees, stabilizers as well as multiple preservatives to their Hispanic food lines.  Though these measures are less expensive and add shelf life, they also
mask the natural taste that only fresh produce and spices can achieve.  
MARIAS Brand began with a truly original Hispanic taste…and remains committed to the
authenticity and quality of our product.

MARIAS Fresh Foods, Inc is located just outside of downtown San Diego where we occupy an 11,300 square foot facility.   Our customers are confident that products
purchased from
MARIAS are processed with care and concern for food safety, under the watchful eyes of all interested regulators.

Product Niche: Truly authentic Hispanic food products that define "good taste" in the wall deli, service deli and numerous Food Service applications. In informal, yet
neutral blind taste tests,
MARIAS Salsas and Spicy Carrots are chosen nearly 9 out of 10 times! There are many "salsas" available today, none with the unique yet
mainstream taste profile of MARIAS products. As the Hispanic taste becomes more and more comoditized, we believe future demand for quality, authentic Hispanic
foods will cause a much faster than average growth rate in our product niche. The LOW CARB lifestyle publicity has added an un-anticipated marketing boost.

Demographic Appeal: Our strongest sales are in the middle/upper-middle demographic... with strong appeal throughout all ethnicities. Families on the go, wanting
healthy, quick yet tasty food are our largest customer segment.

Marketing: MARIAS is a fully active marketing partner with our growing list of brand name Grocers and Distributors. We understand that even the "Best of Class"
products must be marketed. On an ongoing basis we target approximately 5% of sales to ongoing marketing initiatives. New accounts enjoy in excess of 15% in
marketing allowances in the first 90 days. Demonstrations, direct mail, buy one case-get one free are all tools we consider when launching our products with a new
partner.

Food Safety: We are as interested in producing safe food as we are in producing food that tastes good. Earlier this year we implemented a full HACCP Program in
coordination with our in place GMP practices. We are currently in good standing with the following governmental and quasi-governmental agencies:
